Sharron L Ewing Obituary

Baker City, OR - Sharron L. Ewing, a long time Baker City resident, passed away April 27, 2025, at the age of 85 years. A celebration in honor of Sharron's life will be June 27, 2025 from 2-4:00 pm, at Coles Tribute Center in Baker City.

A descendant of Baker County pioneers, Sharron was born in Baker City, Oregon to Wallace and LaNeva (Scott) Shephard. In 1954, at the age of 16 years, Sharron met her future husband, Duane Ewing. Duane and Sharron's love for one another grew and the couple were married on July 02, 1957, in Baker, a month after Sharron's high school graduation.

Shortly after their marriage, Duane went to work for Western Electric (which would later become AT&T). With his work, it would take Sharron and Duane all over the country they lived in areas from California, Arizona, New York and Connecticut. They would share many adventures together, but they settled and built their home in Baker to raise their family.

Though she did not like people knowing, Sharron was a talented artist and enjoyed various hobbies including painting and playing the piano. She was also an active member of the Eagles Aeries and as a teenager became a junior member of the American Legion. Sharron continued that membership until her death.

Sharron's contagious laugh and unique smile defined her beautiful soul. When you heard that laugh, it made you smile. Along with her laugh and smiles came her kind heart and generous spirit. She and Duane provided refuge for many two-legged and four-legged "strays" who needed a place to call home. All were welcome and would become family. Each one held a special place in her heart.

Sharron's greatest accomplishment, however, was being a devoted wife and mother. Duane and Sharron raised four children: two sons, Duane Scott, and Mark David, and two daughters, Carmen Elaine Nelson, and April LaNeva Bowers.

Sharron was never the same after Duane passed and in her later years battled Dementia. In those final weeks, she received round-the-clock care from her devoted daughters Carmen and April, who ensured she was surrounded with warmth, love and dignity until the end.

Sharron is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and LaNeva; her husband and love of her life, Duane; a brother Delbert Shephard; granddaughter Kassandra Ewing; and granddaughter Anne Lacey.

Sharron is survived by her brother Wally (Sonny) Shephard, a sister, Carolyn Medlin and sister Tina Bonadiman; her sons, Duane Jr and Mark; and daughters, Carmen (Jeff) Nelson), and April (Dave) Bowers. Duane and Sharrons love for their family will live on through their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for generations to come.

For those of us lucky enough to have known her - her story continues in the stories we share and the love we carry.
