Adams, Oregon - Rodney Dave Bonifer, 73, of Adams went to heaven on February 5, 2026.

Rodney was born on February 20, 1952 in Walla Walla, Washington to David L. Bonifer and Georgia Handley Bonifer.

He grew up in Weston where he enjoyed the rural lifestyle of hunting and fishing with his brothers, cousins, and friends. He was an exceptional athlete and even more well-noted for his passion and talent as a singer and guitar player. Even at a young age, he enjoyed bringing a smile to his peers and community through music.

Shortly after graduating from Weston High School, Rodney served in the U.S. Army where he worked as a teletypist and received a National Defense Service Medal for his M-16 sharpshooting abilities during training. Upon fulfilling his military service, he worked as a fisherman off the Alaskan coast, a logger in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, and as a ranch hand for various ranching outfits.

Rodney eventually moved back to Athena where he married Mary Flint and raised his four children. He dedicated several decades to working faithfully for Tubbs Ranch where he served as an office manager and bookkeeper. He was always grateful for his career and worked with honesty and integrity.

Although he loved performing music and working with diligence, he absolutely treasured being a father and family man most of all.

In his latter years, he focused on spending time with his adult children, enjoying his beloved grandchildren,fellowshipping with friends, and soaking in the depths of the unwavering love of God.

Rodney's yodeling, music, and genuine smile and laughter will forever remain fond memories of those who knew and loved him dearly.

Rodney is survived by his children: Chelsie Bonifer, Katie Kastner, Susanna Bonifer, and Flint Bonifer; his grandchildren: Allia, Sophia, McKenna, and Korbyn John; and his brothers: Randy Bonifer and Roger Bonifer. He is preceded in death by his father, David Bonifer, his mother, Georgia Ashworth, his brother Rick Bonifer, and his nephew Anthony Bonifer.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Athena Christian Church at 11am.
