Pamelia Ann Anderson (Pam) Obituary

Pendleton, Oregon - Pamelia Ann Smelcer Anderson, of Pendleton, passed away peacefully in her home on February 6, 2026. Pam was born to parents Lawrence and Dorothy Smelcer of Halfway. She grew up on the family ranch in Pine Valley and attended public schools in Halfway. She attended Eastern Oregon College in La Grande, obtaining a B.S. On June 24, 1967, Pam married Terry Anderson, son of Ray and Georgia Anderson of Pendleton, Oregon. During their 57 years of marriage, they had three children: Raymond Mark Anderson (deceased), Katlyn Casey Anderson, and Dane Patrick Anderson.

Pam worked as a welfare case worker in Merced, California; ran her own successful yarn maintenance business in Spring Valley, California; was a teacher's aide in San Diego, California; and retired from the Pendleton Rite Aid Drug Store, having worked as a clerk and pharmacy tech. Pam was a passionate advocate of the Friends of the Library. Her hobbies were reading, Sudoku, cooking, crossword puzzles, gardening, and cribbage.

Pam believed you vote because if you don't vote you can't complain, you help without being asked, that being kind costs you nothing and is worth everything, to believe in climate change and help if you can, believe in science, and don't celebrate ignorance.

Pam requested she be cremated and not to have any kind of ceremony. Instead, she requested that those who remembered her and those she might have touched, simply think of her occasionally and then hug a friend or family member.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the many friends who have reached out with kind words and remembrances and the care and kindness Pam received from Hospice.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Dorothy Smelcer; her brothers, Ben and Dean; her first-born son, Raymond Mark Anderson. She is survived by her husband, Terry Anderson of Pendleton; her daughter, Katlyn Casey Gates of Klamath Falls, OR; her son, Dane Patrick Anderson of Billings, MT; numerous nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren, Tobias and Susie of Billings, MT.

Pam was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend and our family treasure. The sun will never shine as brightly again.
