Marguerite Marie Maznaritz Obituary

Pendleton, Orgon - Marguerite Marie Maznaritz, 93, passed away November 3, 2025, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, WA.

She was born in North Bend, OR, to Edward Grant Johnson and Aveline Josephine King Johnson. She was the third of sixteen children.

Marguerite attended schools in Coos Bay, OR; Helix, OR; and BMCC in Pendleton.

Her various careers included mother and homemaker, car hop, sales clerk, librarian, USPS postal clerk, and printer/publisher of The Pendleton Record weekly newspaper for 49 years, from 1969 to 2018. She was also the owner/operator of the Pendleton Greyhound Bus Depot restaurant for a while.

Marguerite was musically talented and played the accordion, violin, piano, and calliope (with the Main Street Cowboys events). She was the soloist at the Pendleton Christian Science Church for many years. She also taught singing lessons while living in Helix.

Marguerite's many social activities included: Director of the Falcons Drum & Bugle Corps of Athena, Helix, and Weston (many years back); Squadron Commander of the Pendleton Unit of the Oregon Civil Air Patrol—teaching high school-age adolescents wilderness survival and search and rescue training—and participating in several searches with the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office (before they had their own team). She served as President of the Side Saddlers twice (1989 and 2019) and was a member of the Pythians, Rebekahs, Odd Fellows, and the Tillicum Grange, holding officer positions in several of these organizations.

She loved participating in parades, gardening (dirt under her fingernails), flowers, and knitting. She especially enjoyed teaching others different knitting styles. For many years, she knitted 500 to 600 caps annually for various charities. The "Knit Wits" knitting group was her most recent endeavor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Albert Ralph Johnson, Clifford Leroy Johnson, John Marshall Johnson, Jesse Herbert Johnson, Clifford Christopher Johnson, and Roger Lee Johnson; sister Alice Louise Triplett; son William (Bill) Joe Westover; and husbands Joe Lawrence, Walter Davis, James Westover, and Richard Maznaritz.

She is survived by her sisters Mary Jane Wallage, Anna June Lasater, Betty Lou Nolan, Samantha Lynn Johnson, and Linda Kay Jeffery; brothers Edward Grant Johnson Jr., Melvin Edwin Johnson, and William Earl Johnson; sons Walter (Sam) Westover and Jack Leroy Davis; daughter-in-law Cheryl Lynn Davis; grandchildren Jennifer Aguirre, Kyra Davis, and Keenan Davis; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Services were held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the First Christian Church in Pendleton. The graveside service was at the Helix Cemetery following the church service, followed by a Celebration of Life at The Saddle in Pendleton.
