La Grande, Oregon - Kenneth Ray Glenn was born in Enterprise, Oregon on a hot July 22nd in 1948 during the haying season. He was the third of five siblings. His parents, Edna Hammack and Harold Glenn, took him home to their family farm three miles north of Lostine where they remained until
moving into town in 1960. Kenneth was a 4th generation Oregonian and
the descendant of three Oregon Trail families.
Kenneth died on March 20, 2025, in La Grande, Oregon exactly 59 years
after his mother's unexpected death in 1966. His father died suddenly the next year. After his parents' passing, the youngest three siblings moved to Haines, Oregon to live with his married older sister and her Jacobson family.
Kenneth completed his senior year at Baker High School and then returned to Wallowa to graduate with his 1967 class. He attended Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton the following year. He then enlisted in the Army in October 1968 where he served two tours with the 120th Aviation Company near Long Bien, Vietnam. He received the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. More recently, he received a Quilt of Valor along with his two Army veteran brothers.
When Kenneth returned home, he married Carolyn Chastain. They had two wonderful children and later divorced.
In 2001 he married Paula Hafer and proudly proclaimed her the "catch
of his life". That was an outstanding compliment from a most capable fisherman, hunter and mushroom picker.
He had a long career with the Oregon Department of Transportation,
keeping our roads clear in the winter and repaired in the summer.
After retiring from ODOT he worked for R.D. Mack driving gravel trucks.
Kenneth enjoyed his year-round fishing camp in Troy, Oregon where he fished every hole in the Grande Ronde River. Kenneth and Paula were
able to enjoy three deep sea fishing trips in Alaska. Attending his grandchildren's sporting events was key to his happiness and he rarely missed a home or away game.
Kenneth had a quiet charm, a great sense of humor, and a deep love and
concern for family and friends. Using his experiences from early
years, he assisted many to get their lives back on track.
Among those survivors who will continually miss this fine man, are his wife, Paula; son, Kenny Glenn, daughter Lisa Glenn; grandsons William Glenn, Ryan Sanchez, Keegan Glenn and fiancé Jensyn; granddaughter Callie Glenn and boyfriend Blaze and one great-granddaughter Raelyn Glenn.
Paula brought bonus children; Jeff Hafer and wife Jen, Jodi Hafer and Jeremie Hafer into his life and they also feel this loss of a wonderful man. Bonus grandchildren for Kenneth are Randa, Katie and husband Kyle, Tyler, Jackson, Jordan, Derick and great-granddaughter Robyn.
Sisters Rita and husband Gerhard Hoffman, Ellen Glenn; sister-in-law Frances Glenn; brother Jerry and wife Dawna Glenn.
Nieces and nephews include Clark Jacobson, Harold Glenn, Laurel Dyer, Aaron Rollins, Travis Glenn and Shonda Glenn.
Preceding him in death were nieces Kristin Jacobson and Amber Rollins, his brother Eddie Glenn, brother-in-law Turk Rollins and sister-in-law Ann Hand.
The family wishes to thank Angie Caswell, and Heart 'N Home Hospice. A party will be held later this summer to celebrate Kenneth and share our memories.
