Union, Oregon - Jay Theodore "Ted" Mudd, 74, of High Valley, Union, Oregon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Grande Ronde Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at Loveland Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 23, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The family kindly requests casual attire for the service.

Ted was born on April 9, 1951, in Anselmo, Custer County, Nebraska, to Robert L. and Nellie A. (Anderson) Mudd. During his childhood, he moved with his family to Western Oregon, where he attended grade school in Crawfordsville. After graduating from Sweet Home High School, Ted went on to earn a degree in Forestry Technology from Central Oregon Community College.

In 1976, Ted, his parents, and siblings moved to High Valley near Union, Oregon, where they established their family ranch, Mudd T&R. It was at the Nazarene Church in Union where Ted met Kathy Free, and they were married on May 07, 1977. Together, they were blessed with two daughters. Ted's dedication to ranching was recognized in 2001, when he was honored as Union County Cattleman of the Year. Throughout his life, he was deeply involved in his church and cherished family gatherings.

Ted's love for Jesus, his family, and his joyful spirit were evident to all who knew him. He brought light, humor, and laughter wherever he went. Despite battling lifelong health issues, he exhibited an unwavering commitment to hard work.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; daughters Jennifer Jungling and Michelle Sykes; five grandchildren; brother Robert Mudd Jr.; sisters Barbara Toweill, Janet Conyers, and Kathy Beth Hardrath; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nellie Mudd; sister, Louise Erickson; brother, Terry Mudd; sister, Joyce Stevens; niece, Lorissa Quan; and grand-niece, Hannah Quan.
