Prairie City, Oregon - Harvey Dale Askew was welcomed by his parents Claud O. (Joe) Askew and Vera Baker Askew on October 22, 1958 in Happy Camp, California. On September 11, 2024 he grew tired and left this world.

Harvey came to Mt. Vernon, Oregon during his grade school years and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School. While in school, he excelled in baseball, football, track and basketball. Hunting and fishing were the things that he delighted in doing with his dad, brothers and friends. Every now and then, he could talk a sister into going along, but not often.

In 1997, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany for much of his military career. While in Germany, he met and married Mamie on July 1, 1981 and they welcomed one son, Christopher John Askew. After his stint in the military, he returned to Grant County and remained there for the rest of his life.

In time, Harvey married Kay Gibbs and added a bonus son, Michael to his family. Later, after many years of being alone, the son of his old age, Tristen Joseph Gibson, kept Harvey from being bored and added a new spark to his life.

Harvey was very proud of his sons and thoroughly enjoyed being with them as they grew older. Sharing his love and wisdom with his sons as often as they were all together, made him happy.

But the light and joy of his life was grandson, Hunter Dylan Askew who was born in December of 2020. Harvey always had a story to tell of Hunter's latest accomplishments.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Timothy Kendrick Weaver and Harley John (Jack) Askew. He is survived by sons, Christopher, Michael and Tristen and grandson Hunter. Brother James Paul Askew (Lorna), sisters Helen Dora (Dodie) Askew-Hunt and Niki Kim Fisher (Eugene). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
