La Grande, Oregon - Edith "Tuffy" Marie (Starr) Fischer, 84, passed away on November 18, 2025, at a local care facility. She was born on December 22, 1940, in Cambridge, Idaho, to Irvin and Dorthy Starr. Raised in Glenns Ferry, Idaho, Tuffy grew up with a strong spirit and a love for people—qualities that stayed with her throughout her life.

Tuffy married Melvin Fischer, and together they welcomed three sons: Terry, Ricky, and Jimmy. She dedicated many years to caring for others through her work as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph's Hospital and Grande Ronde Hospital, where her kindness and steady presence touched countless lives.

She enjoyed the simple joys of life—fishing, camping, and long conversations with friends and family. Above all, she loved supporting her boys in their sports and activities. Her most treasured moments were those spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as "Nana."

Tuffy is survived by her son, Terry (Shelly) Fischer; four grandchildren and their spouses and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Ricky and Jimmy; her parents, Irvin and Dorthy Starr and her sister, LaDonna Mills.

Tuffy will be remembered for her warmth, her grit, and the deep love she held for her family. Her presence will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
