Baker City, Oregon - David Bryant Freeman was born on Dec. 23, 1940. He passed away on June 28, 2026.

Dave was the third of six children born to Joseph and Wilma Riley Freeman in Baker, Oregon.

He graduated from Baker High School in 1959 and went on to earn a degree in Animal Husbandry from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. Dave was an accomplished rodeo bareback rider and his winnings helped pay for his schooling.

He met his wife, Twila Idzinga, while in college. She was a bright-eyed beauty willing to marry a cowboy from Eastern Oregon and they were married for nearly 60 years. Dave always said that marrying her was one of his best decisions. They have two sons, Seth and Zachary.

Dave returned to Baker in 1973 to join the Freeman Angus Ranching operation. The hills and canyons of Sutton Creek were home to him.

Dave was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Oregon Cattlemen's Association and the Farm Bureau. He was active in many community activities and loved living in Baker County. Dave was known for his sense of humor and ready smile.

He is survived by his wife, Twila; his sons, Seth (Tammy) and Zachary; brothers, Dan (Sue) and Bill; and sister, Judy Britton (Harold). He has four living grandchildren: David, Kaitlin, Justus and Olivia, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Wilma Freeman, his grandson Jacob, his brother Riley and sister Joye.

His graveside service was held July 7, 2026, at Mount Hope Cemetery.
