Pendleton, Oregon - Carole Sue Sproed, a lifelong resident of Pendleton, Oregon, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, at the age of 79.

Carole was born in Pendleton on April 10, 1947. She grew up in the local community, where she built a life centered around hard work, dedication, and family. Her birth carried a special significance for her family; her older brother, Jack Smith, had deeply prayed for twin sisters, and Carole and her twin, Cheryle, were truly the answer to his prayers. Carole spent many years working at the Harris Pine Mill and later retired from Pendleton Grain Growers, where her reliable presence and strong work ethic left a lasting impact on her colleagues.

Beyond her career, Carole was known for her deeply generous spirit. She cared profoundly for those less fortunate and quietly dedicated much of her life to helping others in need. When she wasn't volunteering her time or looking out for others, Carole was a passionate sports enthusiast who loved all sporting events. She rarely missed a football game—enthusiastically cheering on both the Seahawks and the Rams—and was also a big fan of Seattle Mariners baseball.

Above all else, Carole's grandchildren were the absolute joy of her life. She treasured every single moment she was able to spend with them, and her love for her family remains her greatest legacy.

Carole is survived by her twin sister, Cheryle Dietz; her two sons, James Sproed and Gregory Sproed; and her five beloved grandchildren, Travis, Mariah, Charlee, Bristol, and Manhattan Sproed. She was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Jack Smith.

At her explicit request, no formal funeral services will be held. The family will gather privately at a later date to celebrate her life and share memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Carole's memory by performing an act of kindness for someone in need, donating to Helping Hand/CAPECO, or by sharing a favorite story and photograph on her online memorial guestbook.
