Athena, Oregon - Barb died at her home in Athena on Sunday November 2, 2025 just 12 days before her 70th birthday. Barb was born to Thomas and Evelyn Prior McGuigan on November 14, 1955 in
Detroit, Michigan, the fourth of seven children. They moved to Salem, Oregon her senior year of high school. After meeting Del Richmond in the course of their work, they were married in 1975 and made their home in the La Grande area. From this union three children were born Todd, Jacob and Stacie. After Del's death in 1991, Barb met John
Harris. Barb and John married and spent many happy years together.
Barb was a diehard Detroit Tiger fan and was quick to tell anyone who would listen that this was the year they would win the World Series. Her memorabilia collection said it all.
Barbs generosity was evident when she founded a foodshare program the great American Harvest in La Grande in the early 2000's. Barb was also a passionate cook, owning 2 different restaurants in later years.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Daniel and Bill; as well as her first husband Del. She is survived by husband, John; children: Todd, Jake and Stacie (Josh) Richmond-Owens; five granddaughters: Tymalyn, Isabella, Caylie, Darby and Sylvie. She
is also survived by siblings: Diane, Judy, Donna and Tom Jr. (Stefanie) as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Grande, Oregon on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. A private inurnment will be held at
the Summerville Cemetery at a later date.
